However, an unlikely guest appeared on the red carpet among all the glamorous celebrities. A cockroach was seen crawling through the stairs outside the museum, leaving bystanders surprised. Cockroach Spotted on Met Gala 2023 Red Carpet
The photographers and press were waiting for the arrival of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky on the red carpet when a single cockroach was seen roaming on the stairs. Photographer Kevin Mazur spotted the insect and took several photos of it, almost following it like any other celebrity on the red carpet.
The video of the roach is now going viral on social media, with many believing that it almost stole the show from all the stars at the event. Mazur also posed with a picture of the cockroach that he had captured. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky later made a grand entry on the event and attention finally shifted back to the celebs.

Variety, which first shared the clip of the incident, later revealed that the insect could not survive the day. “It is with deep sadness that we must report the #MetGala cockroach was stepped on. #RIP,” wrote the media company.

The video of the cockroach casually moving around the Met Gala red carpet soon went viral on social media, and sparked a meme fest on Twitter. “this cockroach ate everyone up at the met gala,” joked a viewer. Well, the cockroach was not the only one to make headlines with his appearance on the red carpet. This year’s Gala was attended by Anne Hathaway, Doja Cat, Kim Kardashian, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Jared Leto, Ice Spice, Jenna Ortega, Robert Pattinson, Billie Eilish, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Gigi Hadid, and Florence Pugh among others.
Anna Wintour, who has been presiding over the event since 1995, also made an appearance on the red carpet with her rumored boyfriend, actor Bill Nighy. This year’s theme was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, paying homage to the legendary designer who passed away four years ago.
