Chris Brown Apologises To Robert Glasper After Grammys Loss, Shifts The Blame On Academy

Chris Brown sent an apology to the famed pianist, Robert Glasper after he posted several temper tantrum Instagram stories following the Grammys loss. Brown also posted a screenshot of the direct message he later sent to Glasper, explaining that the stories were targeted towards the Academy and not him.

Chris Brown Came Off Rude And Mean

The drama unfolded after famed pianist and music producer, Robert Glasper won the 2023 Grammy Award for Best R&b Album for “Black Radio III” on Sunday (Feb. 5). Chris Brown, who was a nominee under the said category, couldn’t take the defeat and posted several-slide temper tantrum stories, taking a dig at the Academy.

Thereafter, the “Breezy” artist sent a DM to Robert Glasper, explaining that the previous stories weren’t intended to target him. He shared a screenshot of the DM, which reads: “Congratulations my brother.. I would like to apologize if you took offense to my reaction at the Grammys.” He acknowledged that he “came off really rude and mean.”

But hey, he didn’t spare the Academy for this loss. The 33-year-old “King of R&B” added, “After doing my research I actually think you’re amazing.” Even though Chris apologised to Robert, he didn’t hesitate to condemn the Recording Academy, by stating: “THE ORGANIZATION ISN’T DOING US BLACKS OUR DUE DILIGENCE. YOU AND I SHOULD never be in the same category.. two totally different vibes and genres.”

He concluded his message, “So from one Black man to another.. CONGRATULATIONS. HOPE YOU ARE ABLE TO FEED YOUR FAMILY FOR LIFE. God bless my G.” The message wasn’t read by Glasper at the time he posted the screenshot.

How Did Robert React To Brown’s Compliant?

After Chris Brown lost the award for Best R&B Album to the critically acclaimed pianist, Robert Glasper, the pop culture artist who holds a history of resorting to violence with women, cribbed on Instagram: “Y’all playing, who da fuck is this?” In his retaliation, the 44-year-old pianist hit back by sharing a post which he captioned: “Who the  f*** is Robert Glasper.”

Not only this, but Brown also went on to write: “I gotta get my skills up… ima start playing the harmonica.” He also reposted a TikTok flaunting his achievements, including chart performance and ticket sales. In the end, he shared a sarcastic video depicting a Google search of Glasper with a voiceover that says, “Who the fuck is this?”

Glasper shared tons of videos and photos of people congratulating him for his recent Grammys win. FYI, he has already won five and received 11 nominations across eight categories, and needs no introduction when it comes to his talent. Angry fans flooded social media after Brown’s behaviour.

One reminded Brown of his history of violence with women, and wrote: “Get that domestic abuser off my screen,” “why he even gets nominations is BEYOND ME” and “A classically trained pianist and artist with a spotless reputation beats someone who should have never been nominated, awww so sad 🥺.” If you aren’t aware, Chris Brown has been nominated for 20 Grammy Awards and has taken home only one in 2012 for his R&B album “F.A.M.E.”
