K-Pop boyband BTS takes a break to put their focus on their solo projects. The South Korean band made the big announcement regarding their break on Tuesday through a video. Keep reading to know more about the band’s decision.
BTS shared the news during the FESTA dinner
The band members announced that they will be pressing pause to pursue solo projects during the FESTA dinner, which is part of an annual celebration of their founding. They entered their ninth year together this month.
For those of you who are unversed, BTS has seven band members including RM, Jin, V, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, and Jungkook. The band was formed in 2010 and debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment.
What did the band members have to say about their decision of taking a break?
In the FESTA dinner video, RM said, “I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with K-pop and the whole idol system is that they don’t give you time to mature. You have to keep producing music and keep doing something.”
Jimin further added, “We can’t help but think of our fans no matter what, we want to be the kind of artists that are remembered by our fans. I think now we’re starting to think about what kind of artists we each want to be remembered by our fans. I think that’s why we’re going through a rough patch right now, we’re trying to find our identity and that’s an exhausting and long process.”
During an interview with CNN in 2020, J-Hope spilled the beans on the group’s approach to their careers. At that time, he said, “We don’t try to set our standards to define success because if you set those standards, it is very tiring physically and mentally to reach those goals.”
J-Hope further added, “Instead, just trying hard at what we do in our lives and emotions and staying true to that. And this eventually leads to a lot of success. That’s what I’m trying to do. And by doing that, trying to stay true to ourselves.”
