Britney Spears has been a known celebrity ever since her debut song Baby One More Time was released. In 2008, she was put under the conservatorship of her father after she got hospitalized after a series of public incidents.
Britney Spears was against the conservatorship but she was involuntarily placed in the care of her father. In 2021, the conservatorship finally ended. There were claims of abuse and her father benefitting off of the money that she made.
Britney Spears never really opened up or talked about that part of her life. A lot of people have wondered why she chose to keep silent about the issue. Recently, she posted a 22-minute-long audio clip on YouTube, which was later deleted.
The singer revealed the reason behind being quiet in the audio clip and that “I get nothing out of sharing all of this.” Spears also mentioned how she was concerned with the “judgement and embarrassment” that it would bring forward.
Then she went on to talk about the offers for interviews and revealed “I have offers to do interviews with Oprah and so many people lots and lots of money, but it’s insane. I don’t want any of it. For me, it’s beyond a sit-down proper interview.”
She also went on to mention that “I really don’t think any of that is relevant, getting paid to tell your story. I feel like it’s kind of silly.”
In an audio clip posted and then deleted from YouTube, the Gimme More singer revealed that her family had been controlling and abusing her for over 13 long years. She said that “They literally killed me. They threw me away. That’s what I felt like. My family threw me away.”
More About The Voice Memo
In the now-deleted audio clip, Spears also talked in detail about the ordeal she went through and how unfair and confusing it was for her.
Talking about how none of it made sense, she said “I literally spoke in a British accent to a doctor to prescribe my medication and three days later there was a swat team in my home (with) three helicopters.”
She also believed that the conservatorship was all “premeditated” and that her parents conspired the whole thing with outsiders. She disclosed that “A woman introduced the idea to my dad and my mom, (and) actually helped him follow through and made it all happen.”
The Grammy winner also said that her father wanted to “control” her life and that she had to “just play this role that everything was okay all the time and I had to go along with it because I knew they could hurt me.”
After a long and tiring battle, Britney Spear was freed from the conservatorship in 2021.
She spoke up about a lot of other incidents and her opinion on what actually happened. At the start of the audio, she said that she decided to open up about it all so that people who might be in a similar situation do not feel alone because she knew what that felt like.
However, since the audio clip has since been taken down, it is difficult to say whether she still wants to share her side of the story with the world.
