Blink-182 has finally reunited! The original trio of the band has released a new single, their first together in over 10 years. The track, titled Edging, was launched on Friday and reminds you of the group’s good old days with Hoppus and DeLonge singing, “I’m a punk rock kid, I came from hell with a curse/ She tried to pray it away, so I f***ed her in church.”
The single marks the reunion of Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge, 8 years after Tom decided to leave the band. He was then replaced by guitarist Matt Skiba, who toured along with Hoppus and Barker, and released two albums. Read on to listen to the band’s new single.
Blink-182 Releases New Single ‘Edging‘ After Reunion
The track has been produced by Travis Barker, and features his signature drumming pattern. Talking about the Edging, Barker said, “I wanted to imagine as a listener what I wanted to experience and at the same time as a band member what we wanted to make and say and most importantly how it would sound production wise in 2022.”
Bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus said, “I’m so happy to be back in the studio creating new music and looking forward to a giant world tour.” The official video of the song, which has been directed by Cole Bennett, has also been launched on the band’s official YouTube channel. The Band is also Going on a World Tour Next Year
After days of dropping hints at their reunion, Hoppus, Barker, and DeLonge finally confirmed the news with an announcement earlier this week. Blink-182 also announced that they will be embarking on a world tour next year.
The tour will start in South America with a concert in Tijuana, Mexico, on March 11, 2023, and then move to Peru, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Colombia. In May 2023, the band will move to North America and perform across Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Cleveland, New York, Boston, Washington, D.C, Brooklyn, Hershey, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, Dallas, Tampa, Houston and Austin.
In September next year, they will be touring across Europe in Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Czech Republic, Austria, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, France and England before concluding the tour in Australia and New Zealand in February 2024.
The Original Trio had Released their Last Single in 2011
Hoppus, Barker and DeLonge had last collaborated on their single After Midnight, for their 2011 album Neighborhoods. In 2014, DeLonge decided to leave the band, after previously quitting and coming back in 2005.
He then continued recording with his other band, Angels & Airwaves, and spent most of his time in the study of UFOs, aliens and conspiracy theories. In 2015, Matt Skiba joined the band, and the new trio released the albums California (2016) and Nine (2019).
The group continued to go for concert tours, meanwhile also working on their independent projects. In 2021, Hoppus was diagnosed with cancer but won over the disease soon. During his treatment, he was visited by DeLonge and Barker, and the band mended their differences.
