Billie Eilish Blames “The Office” For Believing U2 Was From Scranton & More

Those who know Billie Eilish know that she is a massive fan of the TV show “The Office”. But just how big of a fan is she?

She recently confessed that she might have watched the show over 30 times already.

Billie Eilish & “The Office”

It is unlikely that Billie Eilish will ever go to an office like a regular Joe (or Joanne). But she does love the sitcom “The Office”.

The 21-year-old said that she started watching the show at such a young age that she did not understand many of the jokes and believed them to be true. Eilish also mentioned that she believed that the band U2 was originally from Scranton. She made this revelation at the podcast “The Office” which starred real-life besties Jenna Fischer (Pam) and Angela Kinsley (Angela).

She explained, “There’s so many that are things said, especially by Michael, in ‘The Office’ that he says wrong, written on purpose, that I didn’t even know the real word.” Defending herself, she said, “So, I said many words wrong because I learned them from Michael Scott.”

“Saved My Life”

She believed that the joke about U2 was the “worst” one where she believed it to be true. Interestingly, Bono, who is the frontman of the band previously said that Eilish’s song Everything I Ever Wanted was one of the few songs that “saved my life”.

Eilish also happened to be a part of the tribute video that was played along with awarding the band the Kennedy Center Lifetime Achievement Award.

She recalled that she was in Ireland once and Bono had some flowers delivered for her at the hotel, Eilish recalled that “And I was like, ‘Why would Bono, who’s from Scranton…” She added that she kept asking everyone why Bono sent her flowers in Ireland when he was all the way in Scranton.

“My Strange Addiction”

Billie Eilish opened up about watching “The Office” and said that she only watched it on her phone. She recalled “I was rearranging my closet a couple of months ago and it was just in my pocket. I couldn’t even see it. It was just in my pocket and the audio was playing and it’s like I listen to it like it’s a podcast.”

The Grammy winner also explained that “Also because I’ve seen it so many times, I have it all memorized, like all the lines memorized and all the visuals memorized.”

But her love for the show is not just limited to watching it. Apart from appearing on the cast’s podcast, she has also done an interview with Rainn Wilson, who played the role of Dwight Schrute in the show. But that is not all.

Her brother Finneas had written a song called My Strange Addiction and Eilish recalled that she thought the beat of the song was similar to a song they danced to in “The Office”. She said that she called up her label and asked “‘Dude, can you just ask somebody [At NBC]? There’s no way they’re going to give us the rights to this at all. No way.’”

She continued that “They were like, ‘Yeah, absolutely, they’re not. But we’ll ask.’ Truly. And here we are.” Her song does start off with “The Office” playing in the background. Now, that is dedication!
