The BET Awards are back in full swing baby! The 22nd edition of the BET Awards was like a big celebration honoring black excellence from various fields including music, sports, and culture. Read on to know whether your favorite celeb bagged that prestigious trophy or not.

When did the BET Awards 2022 take place?

This year, the BET Awards aired live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on July 26, 2022, on BET Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Taraji P. Henson hosted the star-studded award ceremony for the second time in a row.

The Need to Know singer Doja Cat lead the list of nominees from the front at the Culture’s Biggest Night with a total of six nominations. She was nominated in several categories including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Female Hip-Hop Artist, Album of the Year, Video of the year, Best collaboration, and BET Her Award. Doja was followed by Drake and Ari Lennox with four nominations each.

Which artists performed at the BET Awards 2022?

Performers who took over the stage during the 2022 edition of the BET Awards are as follows: Chance the Rapper, Chlöe, Doechii, Lil Wayne, Lizzo, Jack Harlow, Ella Mai, Fireboy DML, Roddy Ricch, Babyface, Giveon, Joey Bada$$, Latto, Muni Long and Maverick City Music x Kirk Franklin.

BET’s Voting Academy selected all the nominees for the BET Awards which consisted of entertainment professionals in film, television, music, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, influencers, and creative arts.

Diddy received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards 2022

Sean “Diddy” Combs was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Bet Awards 2022. He was celebrated by artists and collaborators like Mary J. Blige and Kanye West. The Donda rapper Ye came forward and talked about his formative years and said, “I was signed to Puff without him even knowing.” He jokingly added, “that statement is not legally binding.”

West also went on to say that Diddy has inspired both his “life” and his “wife” choices. He continued joking around and concluded by saying, “And here we are. Thanks for that Puff.” In the past, the Lifetime Achievement Award has been received by great celebs such as Whitney Houston, Prince, and more.

As per a press release, this prestigious award aims to praise those “who have not only significantly shaped culture through their extensive careers, but who have also been transformative leaders that consistently inspire generations by setting a true standard of excellence.”

Diddy thanked everyone via Instagram and posted a picture of himself and Kanye on the social media platform. “Thank you everybody from the bottom of my heart!! Without you, I wouldn’t be on that stage!!! LOVE 🖤🙏🏿💫⚡️✨,” he wrote alongside a picture of himself and West.
