Who stars in the upcoming movie ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’?
The official synopsis of the forthcoming movie Avatar: The Way of Water reads, “Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.”
The upcoming movie, Avatar 2 has been directed by James Cameron, meanwhile, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have penned the screenplay with Academy Award-winning Russell Carpenter being the cinematographer and famous music composer Simon Franglen has worked on the music of the film.

Sam Worthington as Jake Sully
In the forthcoming movie Avatar: The Way of Water, beloved British-Australian actor Sam Worthington will reprise his role as Jake Sully, an ex-marine who fell in love with Neytiri and ended up siding with the Na’vi. Worthington will be with the Avatar franchise for a long haul as he is all set to appear in Avatar 3, Avatar 4, and Avatar 5 as well.
Sam is most noted for playing the roles of Marcus Wright in Terminator Salvation, and Perseus in Clash of the Titans and its sequel Wrath of the Titans. Just like Sam Worthington, Hollywood actress Zoe Saldaña will be returning to the world of Pandora. She will be reprising her role as Neytiri, future Tsahìk of the clan, and Jake’s mate in the upcoming sequel.
Saldaña is well versed with sci-fi films as in the past, she has appeared in Marvel movies including Star Trek and Guardians of the Galaxy. She is well-known for playing the role of Nyota Uhura in the 2009 movie Star Trek.

Stephen Lang is all set to return to Avatar 2 as Colonel Miles Quaritch, a human who led the security forces of the RDA, the human organization colonizing Pandora, in their conflict with the Na’vi.
After being killed by Neytiri in the first film, Quaritch has been resurrected by the RDA as a Recombinant, described as “avatars embedded with the memories of human[s]”, he looks forward to finish what he started.
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Stephen stated that his character is “a genetically-engineered autonomous avatar” and that “He has been downloaded with the mind, the emotions, and even more interestingly, possibly the spirit of Quaritch.”
Lang is best known for his performances in films like Manhunter (1986), Gettysburg, Tombstone (both 1993), Gods and Generals (2003), Public Enemies (2009), Conan the Barbarian (2011), The Girl on the Train (2013) and Don’t Breathe (2016).
Sigourney Weaver as Kiri
Popular British actress Sigourney Weaver is all ready to appear in Avatar: The Way of Water, as Kiri, Jake and Neytiri’s adopted teenage daughter. She essayed the character of Dr. Grace Augustine in the first Avatar movie.
Apart from this, Sigourney is best known for playing the role of Ellen Ripley in the 1979 film Alien, Dana Barrett in the 1984 film Ghostbusters, Paulina Escobar in the 1994 film Death and the Maiden, and Virginia in the 2022 film Call Jane.

In a media interaction, Winslet described her part in the upcoming movie as “a pivotal character in the ongoing story” but also “relatively small compared to the lengthy shoot”. She filmed all her scenes for the movie in a month.

Cliff Curtis is one of the new actors in the forthcoming movie Avatar: The Way of Water. In the upcoming film, he plays the role of the leader of the reef people clan of Metkayina and Ronal’s husband.
The film credits of the New Zealand actor include Once Were Warriors (1994), Three Kings (1999), Training Day (2001), Whale Rider (2002), Collateral Damage (2002), Sunshine, Live Free or Die Hard (both 2007), The Dark Horse (2014) and Doctor Sleep (2019).

Matt Gerald as Corporal Lyle Wainfleet
Yeah, you read that right. Another baddie is returning to the Pandora-based franchise. Lyle Wainfleet is a mercenary for the RDA in their war against the Na’vi who was previously killed by a hammerhead titanothere and was revived as a Recombinant.
Matt is here to stay with the Avatar franchise, as he is down to play the role of Lyle Wainfleet in Avatar 3, Avatar 4 as well as Avatar 5. Apart from this, he is widely known for his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) roles such as White Power Dave in All Hail the King (2014) and Melvin Potter in Netflix’s Daredevil (2015–2018).
CCH Pounder as Mo’at
Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder is back to reprise her role as Mo’at, the Omaticaya’s spiritual leader and Neytiri’s mother. The Hollywood actress is known for her roles in TV shows like The X-Files, ER, The Shield, and The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency.
Over her long and remarkable career, Pounder has starred in movies like All That Jazz (1979), Go Tell It on the Mountain (1984), Prizzi’s Honor (1985), Bagdad Cafe (1987), Postcards from the Edge (1990), Benny & Joon (1993), Demon Knight (1995), Face/Off (1997), End of Days (1999), Orphan (2009), Avatar (2009), The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (2013), and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019).
Edie Falco as General Frances Ardmore
General Frances Ardmore is a new character in the Avatar universe and is the commander in charge of the RDA’s interests. The character has been played by Edie Falco. It looks like this new face will be important in the franchise. We might have a new person to root against in the ongoing colonization war on Pandora.
Besides this, Edie has already made a name for herself in the entertainment industry. In the past, she has worked in the HBO series The Sopranos (1999–2007), and the Showtime series Nurse Jackie (2009–2015).
