Andor Trailer Teases the Journey of Cassian Andor
The 2 minutes 25 seconds trailer shows that the series will revolve around Cassian Andor’s evolution from revolution-averse refugee to rebel spy. The trailer was unveiled by Diego Luna, who plays the titular character in the series.
Talking about the show, Luna said, “It’s quite unique, because we know what Cassian is capable of, but we’re going to meet him when he doesn’t know he’s capable of that. We’re going to meet him when life is tough, it’s a very dark and interesting life because it’s just a regular guy that suddenly has to become part of something bigger, has to become part of a community that rises.”
“It’s the beginning of the origins of a revolution, and it’s a beautiful story because it reminds us what we are capable of, what we are all capable of. There’s no Jedis around — it’s people having to take control,” he added.
The show will start streaming on Disney+ from September 21. The launch day will have a special three-episode premiere. Watch the trailer below.
The Show is set Five Years Before Rogue One
Andor is set five years before the events of Rogue One. The official press release by the creators reads, “The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved.”
“It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero,” the release further reads.
As per Luna, the series will rely more on practical effects than CGIs. “I love the whole world. Suddenly I’m a kid on the set, because everything’s real, everything’s there. We don’t work with green screens — the stuff is built. The props work. They make noises,” said the actor.
Andor will mark the Return of Many Star Wars Characters
The show stars Diego Luna as Cassian Andor. Luna also serves as the executive producer of the series. The series will also feature some franchise veterans, including Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma and Alan Tudyk as Cassian’s droid sidekick K-2SO, who reportedly won’t appear in the first season.
As per reports, Ben Mendelsohn might also reprise his role as Director Orson Callan Krennic. Other cast members will include Denise Gough, Stellan Skarsgård, Kyle Soller, and Adria Arjona.
Andor has been created by Rogue One co-writer Tony Gilroy, who has also directed five episodes of the show, including the pilot. The first season of the show will feature 12 episodes that will air weekly till November 23. A second season is also reportedly in the works.
