Upside Down of Stranger Things is expanding in another direction, as the reports suggest the Netflix original is planning for an anime spinoff. The story may not be directly connected to Netflix’s Stranger Things web series. It is more of a spinoff story that will be set in Japan’s Tokyo.
A Spinoff in Development
According to What’s on Netflix, A new anime spinoff series will be announced soon. The series will have the title: Stranger Things: Tokyo. According to the source, the background of the anime will be “video game-loving twin brothers living on the outskirts of 1980s Tokyo”.

Even though the details are not very much, the plot and characters may become much similar to the original series. The 1980s was a golden period for video games in Japan, and there will be a lot of references to some of the best video games back then. A large number of senior audiences can relate to those aspects, which will make the series nostalgic.
The same source is also suggesting that the series will have a total run time of 6 hours long. The anime will be labeled as “the first” Stranger Things spinoff. This will be the first time when fans will get to explore Upside Down not only outside of Hawkins but also outside the USA.
What to Expect from Stranger Things Season 5?
Stranger Things is one of the first Netflix’s best original shows. The series is set in Hawkins town, which is a rural side of Indiana in the U.S. Things become nasty when dangerous creatures from an alternate dimension, “the Upside Down” start attacking the people of Hawkins.
Netflix has officially described the show as “When a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one strange little girl.”
It does not only focus on these creatures as few school students are the heart and soul of the show. The Stranger Things series has a massive global audience as it has released 4 seasons so far. The 5th and final season will start filming soon in 2023. For now, no official announcement on the spin-off anime. It is not coming very soon.
At the end of two-part season 4, “Vecna” was surely able to save his consciousness. But Eleven completely destroyed his body. But Max is still fighting to get out of her comma condition. Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Erica, Nancy, Steve, Robin, Jonathan, and Eleven will team up once again to face off “Vecna” for the final time. Just like in other seasons, some fan-favorite characters may end up dying at the end of the series as well.

The Duffer Brothers confirmed a spin-off of some description earlier this year. The brothers teased the possibility of a spinoff series coming later. They made a Twitter announcement where they wrote about more coming like “new mysteries, new adventures, [and] new unexpected heroes” after the series’ conclusion.
The Stranger Things season 5 will conclude the story of Hawkins. But the other spinoff series will put more focus on other parts of the universe. Its popularity will help the franchise grow more.
