ABC Reaffirms Jimmy Kimmel’s Late-Night Contract For Three More Years

It seems as if Jimmy Kimmel no longer vacillates between shows. Following the extension of his contract with ABC for another three years, the comedian is sticking with late-night television.

Kimmel told Howard Stern last year that he was debating whether to stick with or twist his deal after years of speculation within the late-night community.

At Least Three More Years Have Been Agreed Upon By Jimmy Kimmel

It has been announced today that Jimmy Kimmel will be staying on for at least three more years as he prepares to celebrate two decades doing late night. As reported on Tuesday evening, Jimmy Kimmel has extended his contract to stay as the host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” through the show’s 23rd season, which marks the extension of his contract, which was set to expire next year.

The “Jimmy Kimmel Live” show has been hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and executive produced by him since 2003. He quipped in a statement that after two decades at ABC, he is now looking forward to three years of what they call ‘quiet quitting’ after two decades.

A Sixth Visit To Brooklyn Is On The Horizon For Kimmel’s Show Next Week

Announcing the news comes just days before Kimmel returns to Brooklyn for the sixth time as a host of the show. ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live has been back in New York for the first time since 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic put such trips on hold, of course, and it was the first time he has performed in the city since then.

At the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Howard Gilman Opera House is once again the location where the late-night talk show will once again tape live in front of an audience.

Kimmel’s renewal came when the late-night space changed after TBS cancelled their show “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” and Showtime’s dissolution of its partnership with “Desus & Mero.” In addition, James Corden, the host of “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” also announced that he would be departing his CBS show by the end of next year.

There is no doubt that Jimmy Kimmel Live is the longest-running talk show in ABC history by a long shot. Furthermore, because Conan O’Brien’s late-night show ended last year, he is now the longest-tenured host in late-night.
