ABC has taken the much-awaited move while confirming that co-anchors, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are out of the network, following their scandalous affair. A source from the network revealed that the deal with the former “GMA3” anchors had been “signed, executed and done” by Friday (Jan. 27) afternoon.
ABC Calls Amy And T.J.’s Affair A “Distraction”
People were wondering about what the future “GMA3: What You Need To Know” looks like. Now, ABC has confirmed that Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are out of the network following their scandalous affair. Sources from the network revealed that the deal between ABC and the former co-anchors was “signed, executed and was done” by Friday (Jan. 27) afternoon.
Apart from this, an ABC News spokesperson also confirmed the news in a statement: “After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”
ABC News President Kim Gowin referred to their scandalous affair as a “distraction” and issued an all-staff email before releasing a final statement: “I want to share with you that we’ve reached a decision about T.J. and Amy. Know that this has been a distraction for so many of us, but let’s not forget all the great work that continues to make ABC News the #1 news network in America, and that’s because of you.”
“I want to thank you again for your patience and professionalism during this time,” she continued. If you aren’t aware, in November 2022, the former CNN anchor made headlines for his months-long affair with his then-married “GMA3” co-anchor, Amy Robach.
The network launched an investigation into the nature of their relationship, and it came out that T.J. was indulged in romance with at least two other employees, including married producer Natasha Singh.
Potential Contenders For GMA3
A few days ago, several sources from ABC revealed that despite the investigation, Amy and T.J. won’t be terminated from the network. “There are no grounds to fire them on and they believe they won’t be fired,” a source noted about the pair’s future at ABC. “The network is just waiting for things to cool down. This happens at companies all the time.”
However, ABC took strict action and decided to shut its doors on the faces of these two controversial figures. T.J. Holmes is also accused of having sex with a 24-year-old intern in his office, while he was married to his now now-estranged wife, Marilee Fiebig. He recently filed for divorce amid his affair with co-host Amy Robach.
During their suspension, GMA3’s desk was taken over by De Marco Morgan (tapped to fill T.J.’s spot). Other potential replacements include Rhiannon Ally, Gio Benitez and Stephanie Ramos, who covered the show’s anchor desk in Amy and T.J.’s absence. They appear to be potential contenders for a permanent place on the show.
During the “extremely contentious” negotiations, the couple was reportedly accused of “various forms of misconduct”. It was found out that Robach, 49 once showed up to work “Drunk” and the network found alcohol in her dressing room. The two may be out of ABC but their romance continues to grow stronger despite other allegations again T.J. Surely, Amy is “blindsided” by her lover.
