The Guy’s Guide to Break Ups Playlist
There is not a singular way to handle a breakup. How one deals with the situation could be based on a lot of different things.
The intensity of a breakup can depend on the situation within which the breakup occurred, who broke up with whom and how well the person themselves can handle stress. Over the years I’ve noticed my male friends and female friends handle breakups in significantly different ways.
My female friends have ripped up cards, sent back presents and planned revenge—which never really worked out, and eventually they accept the situation. My male friends don’t speak much about it. Instead, they turn to into the most philosophical and depressing souls you’ve ever met.
I’ve asked some of my guy friends to help me understand their breakup reactions and it seems guys move from depression to anger and then remorse followed by sadness.
When I asked what songs are on their breakup playlist, things got pretty depressing. Guys listen to the most heartbreaking, painful songs when they’ve been through a breakup.
So to help my newly single male friends out there, here’s a breakup playlist (curated by my own guy friends) for you to listen to and drown out your sorrows.
Take a listen to the sorrow filled track, “Tere Bina” from the film “Kal Kissne Dekha.”
Atif Aslam’s soulful voice has this magical ability to emote pain in his songs beautifully. “Tere Bin” from the film “Bas Ek Pal” and “Aadat” from the film “Kalyug” are great additions to any breakup playlist. Check out both tracks!
Was your significant other a cheating douche-duffel-bag? No worries, friend, I’ve even got some songs for you. For that cheating girlfriend (or boyfriend) that broke your heart, some Imran Khan to feed the soul.
Be sure to add his hit song “Bewafa” to your list.
For that horrible partner-in-crime who was never worth your time—look at that, I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it—check out some Eminem classics to pick you up, like “Superman.”
If they weren’t worth the sacrifices you made for them. My man, Bruno Mars knows what you’re talking about.
Sonu Nigam has some words as well, check out this extra depressing track titled “Achha Sila Diya Tune Mere Pyaar Ka” from the 1993 film “Bewafa Sanam” starring Krishan Kumar and Shilpa Shridokar.
Although they may have been a horrid significant other, you can’t help but still love them. Maybe it’s harder to forget them than you thought, thus you head back towards depression with some “Tujhe Bhula Diya” from the Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra flick, “Anjaana Anjaani.”
You’re a smart and capable guy but sometimes you’ve screwed up. It happens.
After some deep soul searching you realize maybe it wasn’t just their fault, you made mistakes as well. Some songs to provide a backdrop to your regret filled musings include “Dil De Diya Hai” from the film “Masti.”
Shael’s track “Hiriye” is filled with regrets and missing the girl he loves because he never appreciated her. This could be a situation many of you gentlemen could relate to.
Bruno Mars’ song “When I Was Your Man” is the ultimate songs of regrets.
And here we are heading back to the depression again with a little insightful Rahat Fateh Ali Khan jams. “Dillagi” by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will hit you in the heart with this touching song and music video starring Huma Qureshi and Vidyut Jamwal.
Sometimes breaking up is inevitable and something that we need, maybe in the long run it’s for the best. As Rahat Fateh Ali Khan says, “Zaroori Tha.”
It’s acceptable to still have feelings but it’s time to wish them the best and move on. ”Baar Baar Dekho’s” tragic romance track, “Teri Khair Mangdi” will help you do just that.
Take that break up and turn it into a positive and say “Bye, Bye Bye” boys!
Hope this playlist helped you in your darkest of times. Don’t forget, there’s always more fish in the sea. Until you find another, live life like its an endless party! To help motivate you to get back out there, here’s a lil Desi Boyz to pump you up!
