This is the first time a major American retailer is launching a Muslim fashion brand.
Verona Collection is an Islamic boutique that started out in Orlando, Florida by fashion photographer, Lisa Vogl. The company’s inception was based on Vogl’s own struggles of finding affordable clothing that was modest yet stylish after she converted to Islam in 2011. She soon discovered that both Muslim and non-Muslim woman faced the same problem and was encouraged to launch her company February 2015.
Vogl and her partners really listened to women of all faiths to try and bring a collection that is flattering, modest, and fashion forward. Their collection includes not only hijabs but tops, pants, dresses, and abayas.
“Verona Collection is more than a clothing brand,” founder Lisa Vogl said in a press release. “It’s a platform for a community of women to express their personal identity and embrace fashion that makes them feel confident on the inside and outside.”
Their instant success online led them to the first Muslim women’s clothing store in a mainstream mall. Their line is sophisticated, classy, and affordable in spite of its high fashion appeal.
The Verona team had the opportunity to showcase their work in New York City last year through “The Workshop at Macy’s,” a business development program geared towards supporting minority and female-owned businesses. You’ll be able to shop Verona Collection on Macy’s website starting February 15 of this year.
