Get ready to save the date for Bollywood’s newest female-powered film, “Veere Di Wedding!” After all its delays, this project, led by sisters Sonam and Rhea Kapoor, finally has a release date! The team teased fans with this stunning picture of it’s four leading ladies, Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar, and Shikha Talsani. The image is paired with the caption, “Mahurat out tomorrow.”

Well, friends, the mahurat is out! The highly anticipated film releases May 18, 2018. Though yesterday’s teaser was stunning with all the ladies rocking gorgeous Abu Jani and Sandeep Kholsa designed lehengas, check out the film’s poster where the whole girl gang switches up wedding fashion and rocks sherwanis with turbans.

“Veere Di Wedding” is most definitely the girl love filled girl-gang comedy Bollywood needs to shake up its male-dominated sappy romance trends that have lost their charm. The plotline sounds like it has the “Bridesmaids” film vibe to it.

“Veere Di Wedding” is backed by some serious woman power with four leading ladies Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in front of the camera.

Behind the camera, the team consists of  Rhea Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor as producers. The girl love is oozing from the sets of this film as all the ladies spend time together on and offsets doing everything from celebrating birthdays to Diwali.

“Veere Di Wedding” revolves around the reunion of friends as they come together for Kareena’s wedding, which we hear is supposed to be a unique wedding. Shot mostly in Delhi and Bangkok, filmmakers are working to make this grand event the wedding of the year.

“This is probably India’s real chick flick. It’s about four girls, four friends, who come together for my (character’s) wedding,” Kareena told IANS. “It’s really interesting and fun. You watch it all the time in the west, but nobody really has the courage to really make a chick flick here. With changing times and cinema today, I think it’s easily done because people want to see a film like this.”

Little else has been released regarding the movie’s plot. In another press event, Kareena even jokingly teased the audience that maybe Sonam’s a fashionista and she’s trying to get Sonam to wear jeans and a t-shirt instead of gowns. We’ll just have to wait and watch to find out more!

The film has faced a lot of delays, including Kareena’s pregnancy—which she shot through by the way because she’s a bad-ass diva who can do it all. There was also a legal battle over the title of the name as a Punjabi movie with the name “Veerey Ki Wedding” was released during the production of “Veere Di Wedding.” The judge’s ruling allowed both films to keep their titles even though they were so similar. There was even rumors of a girl fight on set which Sonam Kapoor put to rest via social media.

Also, there were rumors that “Veere Di Wedding” would be Rhea’s directorial debut but Shashanka Ghosh is the director of the film. You may remember his previous directorial venture, “Khoobsurat” which starred Sonam Kapoor as India’s first Disney princess along with the very regal Fawad Khan as our prince charming.
