1. “Soorma”

Releasing on: July 13

Starring: Diljit Dosanjh, Taapsee Panu, Angad Bedi

The biopic is based on the life of hockey player Sandeep Singh, played by Dosanjh. Sandeep was the ex-captain of the Indian hockey team. He was paralyzed and had to use a wheelchair when he was accidentally shot in 2006. However, he not only recovered from this tragedy but successfully regained a position on the hockey team.

2. “Dhadak”

Releasing on: July 20

Starring: Ishaan Khatter, Jhanvi Kapoor

The Bollywood remake of this hit Marathi-language film features the debut of the late Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi alongside actor Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother Ishaan. The film is already garnering mixed reviews for taking the successful, regional film and turning it into a flashy Hindi flick.

3. “Blindspotting”

Releasing on: July 20

Starring: Daveed Diggs, Janina Gavankar, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Rafael Casal, Ethan Embry

“Blindspotting” tackles the hot button topics of gun violence and police brutality through the lens of childhood best friends Collin and Miles. Gavankar plays Collin’s ex-girlfriend Val and Ambudkar, who recurred on “The Mindy Project,” also stars. The film premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and was met with rave reviews.

4. “Puzzle”

Releasing on: July 27

Starring: Kelly Macdonald, Irrfan Khan, David Denman, Austin Abrams, Liv Hewson

In what promises to be a heart-warming two hours, Macdonald plays Agnes, a woman who is always taken for granted by her husband and kids. To pass her time, she becomes deeply involved in solving jigsaw puzzles. Agnes’s passion draws her towards Robert (Khan), who becomes her partner when she joins competitions.
