Writer, producer and actress Mitra Jouhari has a new project up her sleeve, a comedy show titled “Three Busy Debras.” The actress is best known for her work on “The Big Sick,” “Friends From College,” and “Samantha Bee: Full Frontal.” She was also a writer for “The President Show,” and writing assistant and digital producer for “Samantha Bee: Full Frontal.”
Jouhari has created and written a new show with Sandy Honig and Alyssa Stonoha titled “Three Busy Debras.” The half-hour comedy show has been given a pilot order by Adult Swim. The comedy is produced by Amy Poehler and her production house, Paper Kite. Jouhari, Honig, and Stonoha also star in this new comedy about three disturbed housewives. It follows the crew of friends all named Debra, and the residents of their affluent Connecticut suburb that seems to exist outside reality.
Anna Dokoza directs and executive produces the “absurdist” show along with the three creators, Amy Poehler, and Kim Lessing. It will be interesting to see a female-powered show on Adult Swim, predominantly a male-dominated channel.
“Paper Kite is thrilled to help amplify the bold and bloody
voices of the Three Busy Debras. We hope this show makes you feel strange in all the right ways,” said Poehler in a statement regarding the new show.
Honig will be seen in next in the Priyanka Chopra and Liam Hemsworth starrer, “Isn’t it Romantic?” You can also catch Jouhari in three short films this year, “Places, Thank You Places,” “Phone Story,” and “Bangin Ideas.”
