No, we’re not engineering a unique variety of mangoes. We are, however, producing a new wave of relatable content for a generation straddling two cultures.

Teal, an unexpected color for a mango, signifies nontraditional content, because, duh, mangoes are orange. But we don’t want to be common. We want to celebrate our global-South Asian commonality in a bolder, fresher way.

  • I have plenty of #hindu, #muslim, and #sikh friends who are all about Christmas but more in a #commercial or #decorative way. Like if I’m rocking a #christmastree at home but don’t truly know/understand the #customs of #christians on #christmas... wouldn’t this be #culturalappropriation? Ummm...#askingforafriend 😒 ______________________ #thursdaythoughts #misappropriation #commercialism #tistheseason #misappropriation

  • My parents are conservative and traditional #hindus. We never had #beef growing up. Once I left home, I experimented... with beef consumption and I loved cooking and eating it. I’ve never told my parents that I eat beef because I don’t want to feel their disappointment in me, or in themselves as they’d take it as a personal failure that they went wrong hence my sacrilege dietary choice. I just can’t handle all *that*. I’ve met many 30 something year old Hindus with similar stories. What’s yours? Are you living a #doublelife as well in this regard? ____________________________________ #whatsyourbeef #beefeater #beef #hinduism #taboo #nobeef
